Most Meals on Wheels recipients are asked to make a voluntary contribution to defray the meal costs.  However, the generosity of North Iowans ensures that no one is denied service because he or she is unable to pay.  It also ensures that this vital community service will continue and will expand.

Giving Options

Meals on Wheels Foundation of Mason City needs the ongoing support of our friends, recipients and their caregivers.  You may contribute to the Foundation in any of the following ways:

Donate Directly

  • Gifts of cash including
    • "In Honor Of" an important event in the life of a loved one.  We will notify the honoree if you desire.
    • "In Memory Of" a loved one who has recently deceased, or on the anniversary of his or her death.  We will notify the family of the honoree if you desire.
  • Appreciated securities
  • Real Estate
  • Gift through your Will
  • Establish a Trust or other estate planning gift
  • A Gift Annuity

If you want to leave a gift through your Will, use the following language:

    "I give, devise, and bequeath to Meals on Wheels Foundation of Mason City, Iowa ___% of my estate."  (Fill in the percentage.)

     or

    "I give, devise, and bequeath to Meals on Wheels Foundation of Mason City, Iowa $______."  (Fill in the specific dollar amount).

You can also leave the "residue" of your estate, or you can itemize specific assets such as a home, stock certificates or other personal property.

Donate Through a Payroll Deduction Program

  • You can make a pledged gift, through your company's payroll deduction program.  You can designate some or all of your United Way, Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), and State Employee Federated Appeal gift to Meals on Wheels. (SEFA)

Matching Gift through Your Employer

  • A matched gift.  Ask your Human Resources Department if your company matches charitable gifts.  It may be able to leverage this method and double your gift.
