Advisory Board Developing A Kitchen Cookbook

The Community Kitchen Advisory Board is planning to publish a Kitchen Cookbook as a 20 year anniversary-of-service memento. They are planning to collect as many recipes as possible. Keep your favorite recipe handy, and we will give you more information on how to submit it when the appropriate submission form is available.

Kitchen Installs New Inner Doors As Energy Conservation Measure

In November, new inner-lock doors were installed at the two main entrances to The Community Kitchen. The purpose of the doors is they will act as buffers to the cold winter air, which comes into the building along with people who go in and out.

As the doors modulate the influx of cold air from the outside, they help conserve the energy it takes to heat the building. They were suggested as a partial solution to last winter's nearly 100% increase in The Kitchen's energy costs. We understand they can perform similarly in the summer to help with the cost of air conditioning.

The energy conservation doors were installed through grants The Kitchen received from Alliant Energy Corporation and the First Citizens National Bank Charitable Foundation. We sincerely appreciate their support in hlping us to manage our energy costs so they do not negatively impact our ability to feed the hungry who come to The Kitchen.
