GENERAL PURPOSE
Serving as Chief Executive Officer, the Director provides the vision and personal leadership for the institution's growth and development. He/she develops strategies and initiatives to fulfill the Community Kitchen’s mission and insure its financial stability and growth.
Plans and directs all Community Kitchen personnel, activities and operations; is responsible for volunteer management; oversees the financial management and physical facility.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Community Kitchen Board and Meals on Wheels Board.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervises all Community Kitchen personnel and volunteers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Management & Administration
• Develop organizational goals and objectives consistent with the mission and vision of the Kitchen.
• Develop and administer operational policies.
• Oversee all services & activities to ensure that program objectives are met.
• Oversee business operations.
• Ensure compliance with funding sources & regulatory requirements.
Financial Management
• Develop, recommend & monitor annual budget.
• Submit monthly financial statements to the board of directors.
• Produce an Annual Report.
• Oversee fundraising & development, including grants, events & earned income.
Human Resources

• Administer Board-approved personnel policies.
• Ensure proper (legal) hiring & termination procedures.
• Manage all contracted employees & services.
• Provide for adequate supervision & evaluation of all staff.
• Act as Kitchen liaison with Community Kitchen Board, Meals on Wheels Board, & Cerro Gordo County.
Board Relations/Governance
• Reports to the Community Kitchen and Meals on Wheels Board.
• Works with the Board to ensure sound governance.
• Initiate and assists in development of policies & strategic planning.
• Assists the Board President in planning the agenda and materials for monthly board meeting.
Performs related duties as needed.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
As designated by Community Kitchen and Meals on Wheels Board. Completes miscellaneous tasks as needed, other duties as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
(A) Graduation from a two college or university with a degree in human relations, or equivalent experience.
(B) Three years related experience in non-profit management; or
(C) Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
(A) Considerable knowledge of the Human Services, volunteer management, grant writing, and staff management; knowledge of fiscal management.
(B) Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities with client needs including scheduling meals, distribution of supplies, and direction to appropriate resources. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, volunteer groups, partner agencies, contractors, clients, and the general public; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid state driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, including word processing software and graphics; desk top publishing; calculator; copy and fax machine; phone; automobile; general kitchen tools and equipment.
